Welcome to the

GREAT KILTATHON

The annual fundraiser to support low-income TRiO Students

PURPOSE

The Great Kiltathon (GKaT) is an annual fundraiser held each March, conducted by the PI / Director of the Academic Enrichment Upward Bound program (AEUB), Charles White, and his staff. AEUB is a grant-funded program of the U.S. Department of Education, administered by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The GKaT is a private venture which has as its goal the raising of funds that may be used to assist the program’s low-income students and alum. After all, the financial hardships and needs of the AEUB students do not come to an end when they graduate from high school, and many require assistance beyond the grant’s abilities before graduation.

How Great Kiltathon Funds Are Used

About Academic Enrichment Upward Bound Students

AEUB students come from low-income backgrounds and have a wide variety of needs that grant funds cannot address. These range from struggles with food and housing security to an inability to afford school supplies or pay for milestone experiences. AEUB students work hard to achieve their goals and deserve to have access to as many resources and experiences as their more affluent peers. The Great Kiltathon was born out of the staff’s desire to help meet those needs for students currently in the program and former participants as they continue to pursue their education. Below are just some of the ways Kiltathon money has been spent over the last three years.
